Still looking for a last minute Halloween costume or some simple greusome make-up tips? Well, our very own Arra from the Lakewood Library is here to help!
Check-out the segment she did on Channel 9 on how you can use supplies you probably have in the kitchen to create some nasty scabs, warts and more!
Week two of JCPL's Did You Know?
contest has arrived! Have you checked out this week's little known facts? Make sure you do so you can enter to win $70 in gift cards just in time for the holidays in December!
Do you have an interesting library fact you'd like to share? Let us know!
JCPL held our seventh annual InSight & InPerson
Distinguished Author Series last night. Dennis Lehane
, author of The Given Day
, Shutter Island
, Gone, Baby, Gone
, Mystic River
and more, was our guest.
More than 1,100 people packed Mile Hi Church to hear Lehane speak about his writing process, working with Hollywood and the importance of libraries. His lively, honest and humorous discussion was followed by an equally honest and informative question-and-answer session and book signing.
We once again had Borders as a partner, selling books by Mr. Lehane and they donated 20 percent of all proceeds to the Jefferson County Library Foundation.
Did you attend this year’s InSight & InPerson? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
If you have any other authors you’d like to see in the future, let us know!
Show us how much you know about JCPL and you can win big!
Each week from Oct. 18 through Dec. 11, we’ll post three little-known facts about our libraries on our Did You Know? page and in our libraries.
Then from Dec. 15-17, we’ll post a survey to test your knowledge of JCPL. If you answer all questions correctly, you will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 Visa gift card and a $20 gift certificate to the Friends Gift and Book Shop at the Belmar Library. We’ll announce the winners on the Did You Know? page on Dec. 20!
Lakewood's Heritage Center will debut an exhibit commemorating the 70th anniversary of the USO on February 1, 2011. As part of this project, JCPL will be helping to record oral history interviews about the USO from World War II to the Gulf War. If you have memories of the USO from your service or other stories to tell, we want to hear from you! For more information contact:
