Turn to us for sports information and resources
The Rockies home opener is April 4, Rapids opening day is March 29 and the NBA Playoffs begin in April. JCPL’s free online resources are a great tool for keeping up with your favorite sports teams or researching past seasons.

America's Newspapers, from NewsBank, provides access to full-text articles from national, regional and local newspapers, including 13 Colorado papers. Search for articles about last night's game or last year’s season.

You can find articles from past and current issues of Sports Illustrated, Sports Illustrated Women and Sports Illustrated for Kids through America's News Magazines, another online NewsBank resource. Click any of these magazine titles in the Source List to search and browse for articles.

Are you looking for pictures of this year's Super Bowl? What about pictures of Super Bowl X between the Pittsburg Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys? Use AP Images to search for current and historical news photos from the Associated Press and other sources. Images are divided into categories, so you can easily search or browse the available sports and historical photos in this database.

These resources are all available for free with a valid JCPL library card. From the JCPL homepage click Research Tools, then click Subscription Databases A-Z.

Jeffco Library District Formation Public Hearing Continued
Tuesday, March 11, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing to seek input from residents before acting on a request from the Library Board of Trustees to authorize the formation of a library district. There are still some issues that need to be resolved, so the commissioners voted to continue the hearing on June 17, 2008.

Still being discussed are two questions about the Library's voter-approved levy of 3.5 mills. There was also some confusion about whether the city of Westminster was properly notified of the Library's intent to form a district, but we think this issue has been resolved.

We're still in negotiations with Westminster, but things are moving forward positively and we expect that the city will be a part of the district.

There were about 80 people at the hearing where presentations from both county staff and the Library were made. A dozen public comments were provided; all but one individual spoke in support of the library district.

We encourage you to support your library. You may still submit comments as part of the official record until the June 17 hearing by e-mailing Library Board of Trustees Chair Keith Grebe at keith_grebe@hotmail.com, e-mailing the Commissioners at commish@jeffco.us or writing them at 100 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden, CO 80419.
