Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15-Oct. 15, celebrates the independence of seven Latin American countries. The observation started in 1968. By U.S. Census Bureau estimates, more than 44 million people in the United States are of Hispanic origin. That's about 14 percent of us!
