Jordan Brothers Memories
Here's another great Holiday shopping idea. We have a great Jordan Brothers collectible for you here at the library. This sharp black tee features a record logo on the front and a replica of the memorial plaque dedicated recently in Frackville on the back. Check out the Frackville Library page on www.facebook.com  for more photos. Shirts come in sizes s-xxl. Small, medium, and large are $15 and XL and XXL are $16. We should have selling stock sometime next week, but if you are interested in the meantime, give us a call and we can take your order.

A Money-Saving Tip
Anyone who is taking medication these days is also probably complaining about the rising costs. If you are currently on a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan or soon to be, you can get some of the best free assistance in finding out the best plan for you right here at the library. On Tuesday, November 16 and Thursday, December 2, staff and volunteers of Apprise will be in the library to help you with information, plan comparisons, and on-line enrollment, and it's all free of charge! Call the library at 874-3382 or the Apprise office at 800-621-6325 today to schedule an appointment. You will need your Medicare card, information about your current insurance, and a list of your medications with dosages in order to get the best comparison. Slots of time available are limited so call soon.

Shop 'til you drop...
The library has several fund raisers planned during the next few weeks which can help you with your Holiday shopping. Candle Creations of Frackville will be supplying clean burning, aromatic soy candles for our Fall Candle Sale. They come in two sizes-10 oz and 16 oz apothecary jars, and a variety of scents.  My personal favorite is Hot Cocoa, but we also have Candy Cane, Home for the Holidays, Bayberry, Ginger Snap, and more.  Check out the samples at the library. Prices range from $12-15. Orders must be placed by November 5, and payment is due with the order. If you're looking for a larger variety of gift ideas, join us at the Bon-Ton, Schuylkill Mall for their Community Day Event on Saturday, November 13 from 6AM to closing. For just $5.00, you can purchase a coupon booklet with loads of savings opportunities. The Bon-Ton has promised fewer exclusions than ever! All proceeds from the sale of booklets will go to the library. Booklets are available at the library, or see us on the day of the event at the Bon-Ton. Save money and help your library at the same time.

See the USA....
I just returned from a road trip which took my brother, sister, and I across America to Wyoming and back. It was quite an adventure, especially as we hadn't taken a vacation together since we were kids. Even though there are many familiar things in every state-fast food places, gas stations, rest stops, and hotel chains-there are still enough regional differences to make a trip worthwhile. In Wisconsin, for example, we discovered a fast food place called Culver's, with their specialty, the Butterburger. In some states, they sell gas with a very low octane-of special concern to my brother with his new vehicle! When we stopped for a break in Oklahoma, were treated to a virtual palace of a rest stop. And as for Comfort Inn's-believe me, they are not all alike! One of our best adventures was seeking out a feature in Yellowstone National Park which my sister had remembered from an old Viewmaster reel we had.  Morning Glory Pool lived up to its memory and was worth the three miles of walking it took to see it. The United States is a great place to visit, and if you can, take a trip someday. You won't be disappointed.

Upcoming programs
As usual, there is plenty going on at the library in the month of October. For children, we have Babytalk on the 19th and Storytime on the 14th, both of which will have a Halloween theme. Wii Gaming is available on Monday and Wednesdays for anyone over the age of 55 who is interested. Also for our older patrons, computer classes continue on Thursdays at 10AM. We are also having a special fundraiser this month. On Sunday, October 31st the library will host a Murder Mystery Dinner at Club Paparazzi on South Lehigh Avenue across from the library. Details for all these activities are available under the Calendar tab on this website.
