Pamela Gay Award for Volunteerism

On December 13th,  the Library presented the 8th annual Pamela Gay Award for Volunteerism to Barbara Kvetcovsky (on the right).

Barbara Kvetcovsky has been active in the library for over 30 years.  She has served four terms on the Board of Trustees of the Library as well as chairing the 1999 Long Range Planning Committee.  For more years than she can remember, she and her sidekick Marty Lovely have sorted and priced every book for the annual library festival.

As the Newport Middle High School librarian, she is beloved by generations of Newporters.  Her former students as well as the staff of the library know that when they call her for help with a reference question or for refreshments for a library program they will be asked the famous Mrs. K. question “What do you need?”

The Award is named in honor of Pamela Gay, who before her death volunteered countless hours at the library and exemplified the true spirit of volunteerism not only at the library but several other area organizations.
