Congressman Hodes made his first official congressional visit to Sullivan County last Friday. It was good to see that he came to Newport and toured Headstart and the Library. Read about his visit in the Eagle Times.

I am delighted to announce that the library has received a We the People Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. This will bring a specialist from the Northeast Document Conservation Center to survey our historical collections. Our Closed collections include leather bound first editions, lantern slides, negatives, newspapers, yearbooks, a pencil box from the early 1900’s, and a bottle of Bud Soda. The conservator will assess what we own, how we store it and make recommendations on how to preserve it for future generations.
