This week you’ll have to use the original front door to enter the library. We closed that door in 1988 to everyday traffic and made it an emergency exit. All day people have been telling me that it is like old times to come in that way. We’ll return to using the main entry next week after the epoxy coating is dry on the steps.

The step repair also means that we had to close the outdoor book drop. We have altered our automated system so that no one will incur fines while the book drop is closed.

The NEW TEEN ROOM is now open for business on Tuesdays from 3-5pm! Right now we are having a difficult time trying to think of things to do up there and that is where we need your help. We would like you to get involved in deciding what you would like to see done. We will be developing a "Student Advisory Panel" to help make the decisions on what you want to do. If you are interested please talk to me, Kerry, on Tuesday afternoons.

Ahoy Mateys, Get ready to sail to the library to register for the Summer Reading Program,"Treasure Reading." The kick-off date is June 20th with guests - Judy the Clown will be face-painting from 12:30 to 2:00, and storyteller, Simon Brooks will enchant us with stories at 2:00. Come and seek your treasure at the Richards Free Library!

The new teen room on the third floor is now open on Tuesday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00. Kerry Slay will be there to greet you. She has movies, food, art supplies and music. Kerry would like help planning programs and selecting magazines, books and dvds for the room. If you would like to have a say in what things are available, stop in any Tuesday afternoon and talk to Kerry.

Children are invited to create puppets every Tuesday in May at 3:00. Bring your ideas, crafting skills and dramatic voices. A final performance will be held on May 30th.
