Storytime again
I get to do storytimes on February 24. I love sharing stories and other activities with kids. Out of the thousands of new books published each year and all the wonderful older books, we have this short time each week to showcase some of the best. That’s why we take our planning very seriously. Hours go into deciding what stories to use and how best to present them. We want to make the books come alive for your kids. The music and rhymes are also chosen very carefully, because they are a part of the cultural literacy we want to share with the next generation, as well as helping with early literacy and just adding to the fun. This week, as I focus on stories related to J and K, I will share some Mother Goose rhymes - “Jack and Jill”, “Jumping Joan”, and “Little Jack Horner” and the old folk song, “Jim Along Josie”. Do your kids know Mother Goose rhymes? Check out a Mother Goose book today! Do your kids know American folk songs? Take a look at MPL’s great children’s music collection!
