Bountiful Benefit for Books
On February 19, over 300 people filled the Library after-hours to enjoy the Friends of the Monterey Public Library’s annual Chocolate & Wine Tasting Benefit. This fun-filled, festive event featured delicious cakes, brownies, cookies, petit fours, ice cream, candies, molé, chocolate beer, and a wide variety of wines – all donated by generous local wineries, restaurants, bakeries, confectionaries, and grocery stores. The silent auction included wonderful gift baskets, collector’s books, art, and certificates for services – again, donated by generous individuals and local businesses. Tobin Lavelle struck just the right musical chord with his guitar, and the winners of this year’s Chocolate Chip Cookie contest were announced. Best of all, the community gathered together to catch up with old friends and neighbors, meet new ones, and support their public library. And if you weren’t able to attend the event, don’t feel left out because the event raised $10,000 for library books for you and everyone else to enjoy!
