Fall Out
Our seasons may be subtle on the central California coast, but fall is here, and it’s my favorite time of year! The quality of light is slightly different. It’s a little bit warmer and much less foggy than July. The leaves on the plane trees outside my office window are beginning to fade to yellow and brown. Purple Indian corn and little white pumpkins are making an appearance in the produce aisle. And, it’s a great time to get out and about and explore Monterey’s past by participating in History Fest! From October 3 through 19, Historic Monterey will present a wide range of activities including historic re-enactment, demonstrations, workshops, dancing, Plein Air painting, exhibits, lectures, and tours of the shoreline, historic buildings, cemeteries, gardens, and homes. So, get out and enjoy Monterey in fall, and learn about and celebrate our rich and colorful history!
