Entrepreneurship Series: The 2018 Changing Tax Landscape for Business

Cynthia M. Kula, CPA/PFS, CFP, and Luke Lucas, CPA, at Rea & Associates, will be discussing the changing tax landscape and how it affects businesses. They will cover Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, reviewing key provisions in the Tax Act along with any potential updates, provide tax tips and planning ideas that can be utilized throughout the year and provide financial planning tips for various life stages. Also covered will be state and local taxes including the state tax implications of the Tax Cuts and Job Acts, Nexus and how the South Dakota v. Wayfair decision has changed the way states can impose their tax on your business and how to become compliant and the risks if you are not.

With more than 40 years of public accounting experience, Kula regularly assists clients with tax, financial and estate planning and specializes in partnership and corporate tax law with an emphasis in the real estate, health care and dental industries. A graduate of Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Science in computer and information science, she is also a member of the American Institute of CPAs, The Ohio Society of CPAs and The OSCPA Scholarship Committee. She also sits on The OSCPA Global Advisory Committee and previously was part of the planning committee of the MEGA Tax conference.

Lucas is responsible for assisting clients that have large and complex multistate taxation obligations with his expertise in Commercial Activities Tax, flow-through entity state taxation, Gross Receipts tax, changes in multi-state income taxation, and state nexus causing activities. A graduate from The University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in accounting, he is also a member of the American Institute of CPAs, The Ohio Society of CPAs and The Tax Club of Cleveland.
