Marketing specialist, entrepreneur and author Joe Pulizzi returns to the library to discuss his newest book Burn the Playbook: How Creators and Entrepreneurs Escape the 9-5 and Build Businesses That Last. Winner of the BookFest 2025 Business/Entrepreneurship Award, Burn the Playbook is a wake-up call for anyone who is tired of playing by someone else’s script and wants to create their own wealth, ownership, and freedom. Written for creators, entrepreneurs, and anyone who is looking for a new career path, Pulizzi provides real frameworks and experience from over two decades of industry knowledge.

Originally written for his children, Burn the Playbook is a blueprint for creators and professionals who are done following someone else’s script and are ready to build assets that pay you back for years. Specific topics in the book include tips on how to build a steady foundation that will return over time, build trust and predictable revenue streams, ways to diversify creator revenue streams, and how to work against an ever-changing algorithm and build first-party relationships.  

Joe Pulizzi is an author, podcaster, marketing speaker, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of multiple startups including Content Marketing Institute and The Tilt and is the bestselling author of seven books including Content Inc. and Epic Content Marketing. Pulizzi is best known for his work in content marketing, first using the term in 2001. In 2014, he received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Content Council. He successfully exited the Content Marketing Institute in 2016. He is the host and runs two weekly podcasts including Content Inc. podcast and This Old Marketing report, which is the longest running marketing news podcast on the planet and has received awards. He is also the owner of The Orange Effect Foundation, which delivers speech therapy and technology services to over 450 children in 40+ states.
