Award Winning Books
The American Library Association’s awards for teen literature have been announced. 

Michael L. Printz Award (for the best teen book of the year)

Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi

Margaret A. Edwards Award (for lifetime contribution in writing for young adults)
Winner: Terry Pratchett
 
Robert F. Sibert Award (for the most distinguished informational book)
Honors: Ballet for Martha: Making Appalachian Spring by Jan Greenberg and Sandra Jordan, illustrated by Brian Floca; and Lafayette and the American Revolution by Russell Freedman.
 
William C. Morris Award (honoring a debut book published by a first-time author writing for teens)
 
 
Stonewall Children's and Young Adult Literature Award (for books of exceptional merit relating to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered experience)
 
Winner: The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex, narrated by Bahni Turpin
Honors: Alchemy and Meggy Swann by Karen Cushman, narrated by Katherine Kellgren; The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, narrated by Nick Podehl; Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly, narrated by Emily Janice Card and Emma Bering; and will grayson, will grayson by John Green and David Levithan, narrated by MacLeod Andrews and Nick Podehl.
 
Schneider Family Book Award (for exemplifying the disability experience)
Best middle school book winner: After Ever After by Jordan Sonnenblick
 
Pura Belpré Author Award (for a Latino/Latina writer whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience)

JHunt Award

Winner: Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta
