The Art of Using Foods to Heal

Presented by Dr. Somesh N. Kaushik
Ayurvedic and Naturopathic Physician

This series discusses the mechanism of action of food on the body and its healing abilities. In this lecture the focus is on arthritis and autoimmunity. While osteoarthritis (wear and tear on joints) and rheumatoid arthritis (autoimmune dysfunction) are classified and treated differently by conventional approaches, Ayurveda takes a similar approach to both and to other autoimmune conditions as well. This may include diet modifications, herbal remedies, detoxification, and lifestyle counseling with meditation and therapeutic yoga. Although the approaches may be similar, each plan is unique to the individual based on their dosha, or body constitution.

Come and discover:

•    The reasons the body may be attacking itself
•    Foods that exacerbate the symptoms of autoimmune conditions
•    Immune support to reduce the body attacking itself
•    Foods and herbs that increase circulation
•    Anti-inflammatory herbs and foods to include in the diet
•    Oils that can be used for self-massage to relieve discomfort
•    Foods that strengthen the microbiome for gut health
•    The benefit of a dosha-specific diet
•    Importance of detoxification
