“Light & Shade: a Folk Concert with Judy Cook” at Canton Public Library
Canton Public Library
Friday, Jun. 2, 1:30 PM
Fresh from her exhilarating 20th annual UK singing tour, Judy Cook entertains us with a rich and varied selection of songs from ancient ballads-- including a version of “Sweet William’s Ghost” from Newfoundland-- to comic songs from the 19th and 20th centuries (imagine a parody of Tom Paxton’s “Last Thing on My Mind”).  Expect cowboy songs such as “‘Longside of the Santa Fe Trail” and a rousing gospel from the Georgia Sea Islands. Ms. Cook’s new CD will be available for purchase and autographing. Free; registration requested for seating set-up. Canton Public Library is at 40 Dyer Avenue, Canton.  For information: (860) 693-5800, email bvanness@libraryconnection.info or visit www.cantonpubliclibrary.org.
