This program is for students in grades K - 4 and attend Pawling Elementary School.
During this weekly program, we’ll have fun with different projects and activities including making healthy—and creative-snacks, arts & crafts, Indibots, airplane science, and dinosaurs! This program will meet on Thursdays beginning April 16 through June 11. Please note: No program on May 7. Registration is required and is for the whole series. You can specify if you will not attend certain weeks below. Parents will be expected to pick up their children at 4:15 pm.
4/16: Solar Bugs Participants will decorate and assemble "solar bugs" that will move and dance!
4/23: Snack-tivity: Children can make their own healthy and creative snack and we'll enjoy eating them together.
4/30: Board Games: The children will be introduced to the Library's collection of fun and new board games.
5/14: Ooey Gluey Suncatchers: We'll briefly discuss famous artists' work such as Degas or Monet as inspiration for their designs. Using glue and food coloring on acrylic frames, participants will create their designs. While they dry, we'll read a story about an artist.
521: IndiBots: These little car-shaped robots respond to colored mats. Children can explore designing pathways for the robots to follow. Please note: This session will meet in the cafeteria.
5/28: Paper Circuits: Children will be introduced to how circuits work and will create their own projects that will light up.
6/4: Paper Airplane Science: We'll learn how the design of an airplane affects how far and high it will go. Then we will test our own paper airplanes.
6/11: Dinosaur Dig: We'll learn about some different types of Dinosaurs and each child will dig open their own dinosaur egg. And we'll share information about the Library's summer reading program "Unearth a Story".
