The Great Backyard Bird Count and Citizen Science (Virtual Program)
Presented online by Stephanie Punnett of the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary
Learn how to be a part of a world-wide citizen science program to help with bird conservation efforts! The Great Backyard Bird Count is a free, family friendly citizen science program and can be done anywhere: in your favorite park, wildlife refuge and even in your own backyard.  This lecture will show you step-by-step how to count birds and report your data. We'll also review how to identify birds and some common birds you might see. We'll touch on a few other citizen science projects that are available for the general public.  The Great Backyard Bird Count was established in 1998 by National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to assist scientists in monitoring trends in bird populations.
