David Seay published his autobiography Stories My Wife Wishes I Wouldn't Tell the Children detailing his memories growing up in West Texas. In this author talk and book signing, Seay will share some of his memories and stories from the book.

About the book:
Stories My Wife Wishes I Wouldn’t Tell the Children is a collection of the author’s memories that recounts his and his friend’s adventures while living in a Humble Oil & Refining Company camp in Andrews County.

Beginning in the 1930’s and ending in the 1970’s, many oil companies built and maintained camps for their employees, not only in the oil producing counties of West Texas, but also across other parts of Texas and several other states. While some camps were established in the city limits, most were located in the oil fields where the employees worked.

Employees and their families experienced a totally different lifestyle from the residents living in town with the conveniences of doctors, hospitals, schools, churches, shopping, etc.  Living in a camp was also unlike families who lived on a ranch or farm and experienced limited contact with other families.
