Marjorie Kruvand, PhD
For several centuries, Americans have relied on the news to help illuminate and make sense of the events and issues around them. But the state of journalism in the United States has become increasingly precarious in the 21st century, and turbulent change is likely to accelerate during this decade.
Dr. Kruvand, a former journalist and journalism instructor at UCSB, will discuss the forces and trends that have combined to create a “perfect storm” threatening the future of American journalism, and what the nation risks losing in the process.
