Dr. Inga Dóra Bjornsdottir
Ólöf Sölvadóttir was an Icelandic achondroplastic dwarf. She emigrated to North America in 1876 and became one of America’s most successful female impostors by pretending to be an Eskimo from Greenland called Olof Krarer. She gave over 2,500 lectures in the US, telling fantastic tales about the life and habits of the Eskimos in Greenland. Her tales were later included in a textbook that was taught in American schools until WWII and shaped Americans’ ideas about Eskimos for decades.
