The Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton invites kids in grades 1 through 5 to create a beaded suncatcher with experienced beader and Bill Memorial staff member, Catherine Boudreau on Wednesday, July 16 at 1:00 PM. All materials will be provided, including a wide array of colorful and interesting beads. No experience is necessary.This class is free, but class size is limited and registration is required. In this fun and fast-paced workshop, each participant will create a textured, dimensional frameable artwork. This workshop is ideal for all skill levels and abilities. No artistic talent required. Award-winning polymer clay artist Debbie Jaffe will guide you through the whole process all while making you laugh. Space is limited; registration is required and begins July 8. Meetings go from 10:30-11:30 am, though members are encouraged to keep the discussion going after the fact. Selections for the upcoming book will be available one month in advance at Bill Memorial Library for convenience, though readers wishing to get an earlier start can request the book sooner by speaking to a member of staff.
What is speculative fiction? It's an umbrella term that encompasses many different genres: science fiction and fantasy, of course, but also horror, superheroes, dystopian stories and alternate histories. Something Else Entirely aims to hit a variety of moods and pacings based on member input each year, as well as hitting both contemporary speculative fiction as well as some of the classics.
