Elephants Matter: A
Elephants Matter: A Talk with Cynthia O’Connor / CANCELLED
Pawling Library Annex

Tuesday, Mar. 18, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Please join us for “Elephants Matter,” a talk by Cynthia O’Connor. The talk will consist of a Power Point presentation and discussion about the current state of the poaching crisis in Africa, and the other critical situations that are endangering the elephants worldwide. Cynthia will also discuss the recent exacerbation of the human-animal conflict due to severe drought, the topics of zoos and circuses, and more. Photographs from Cynthia’s travels to Africa will be available to purchase...all proceeds will go to organizations supporting elephants, including the Shedrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya. Cynthia has been a professional photographer since 2005. Her work has included weddings, events, and portraiture but is now primarily landscape, cityscapes, and wildlife. However, her most fulfilling work has been her travels to Africa to document the elephants and their plight in order to raise money and awareness.

Cynthia O’Connor: I have spent my professional life forming relationships, engaging in fundraising, and making sales; I first used these skills in a more corporate setting (selling public and private radio time in New York City and Chicago) but for the past 20 years have focused instead on the plight of the elephants. I have started my own organization, “What About the Elephants?” to raise awareness, concern, and money to help save these magnificent creatures. My goal is to continue in the non-profit sector and channel my energies and passion to raising awareness and funds for the most deserving of causes.
