Rock & Roll’s 65th Birthday Celebration CANCELLED
Saturday, Mar. 21, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
This is a fast-paced 90 minute-plus multimedia/participatory program; combining archival audio tracks, rare video footage,
behind-the-scenes storytelling, group singing, and stress-releasing music-making. It's the rapid fire of rockabilly meeting the sweet harmonies of doo-wop.....the hard driving sounds of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, the Everly Brothers, Fats Domino, the Drifters, the Coasters, the Shirelles, the Ronettes, and more.
Hosted by Craig Harris, M. Ed., a master percussionist, educator, historian, author, photographer, and the host of a weekly radio show (streaming /archived at bluegrasscountry.org). He’s the author of The Band: Pioneers of Americana Music, Heartbeat, Warble and the Electric Powwow: American Indian Music, and The New Folk Music. A skilled percussionist/drummer, he’s played with C.J. Chenier & His Red Hot Zydeco Band, Greg Brown, Jonathan Edwards, Rod MacDonald, Los Texmaniacs, Melanie, and Rick Danko. He is currently a member of an Americana group (Two Days Jeans), a jazz trio (Fuse), and a global-spirit ensemble (the Gaea Star Band), with whom he’s co-hosted a syndicated live music radio show since 2014.
