Take a break from the stress of everyday life and discover the wellness practice of drumming.
We are excited to bring you a new health a wellness program with a beat! Craig Norton and Denise Smith of Hands on Drumming will present a multicultural/multimedia/musical experience for adults. Participants will enjoy a four minute trailer for a film that Craig produced that introduces the many connections between drumming and emotional/physical/social well being. The 60 minutes are filled with inclusive musical merriment, movement and inspiration based on decades of research and experience. They share recommendations for books, videos and other resources on the connection between music and the brain. All drums will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Registration is recommended.
About the Presenters:
Craig Norton has been a Drum Circle Facilitator for over 25 years and is endorsed by Remo Drums. He produced and directed "Rhythms of Life", a feature length documentary about the wellness of rhythm and drumming. Craig is a Master Teaching Artist with Arts For Learning CT, HOT Schools, Stratford Public Schools and Hartford Performs. He is trained in social emotional learning in the arts and brings the joy of rhythm to patients in group homes, hospitals, assisted living and special needs classrooms. Denise Smith has recently partnered with HoD to share her vibrant movement and divine drumming. You may know her from the nature-based art programs she has been offering recently. at our library!
