Surprise!  Y-DNA is not just for your father’s direct paternal line.  It can extend your research on multiple branches of your family tree.  Y-DNA tests can also help you identify generations that are more distant than other types of DNA tests can.

Ann Raymont will touch on the genetic science and tests available, and then focus on the application of Y-DNA testing in genealogical research.  Participants will use checklists, a flowchart, and hands-on exercises to learn how to apply these tools at home with their own family’s Y-DNA test results.  Attendees that are working to maintain their librarian certification will earn one LEU.

Ann is a trustee on the Board for Certification of Genealogists Education Fund and lectures on DNA as well as genealogy in general.  She has published articles in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly and in the journals of other genealogical societies in Indiana, Ohio, and Minnesota.  When she is not digging up ancestors (figuratively!), Ann also maintains a website and blog at DNAsleuth.wordpress.com.
