Clinton County youth are invited to “make some music! Learn how to create original tracks through the art of beat making, song writing, and rhyming!” The B.E.A.T Explorers Workshops, taught by professional MC’S and DJ’s from NYC are typically reserved for youth in libraries and schools of New York City. But now B.E.A.T. Workshops is bringing the program to Frankfort, Indiana!

The B.E.A.T.S. Workshop, which is a free event, will be held virtually on Thurs., 6:00-6:45 p.m. on Nov. 19, Dec. 13, Dec. 10, and Dec. 17th. The program is open to students ages 14-18 and space is limited. It is not necessary to attend every workshop date, so sign-up for dates you are able to come. For more information and to register visit our event page at www.myfcpl.org/b-e-a-t-music-workshop/. Students will learn the production elements of lyricism, storytelling, basic percussion, and how to build their own beats with free music production software. The classes are taught professional Music Production Educators.

Bridging Education & Art Together (BEAT Global) is a non-profit organization that, according to their website beatglobal.org, “uses Hip Hop as an art form to promote the values of peace, respect, and self-worth”. The BEAT Explorers workshop “engages students in creative and technical aspects of storytelling through songwriting and original music production”.  The program is “culturally responsive, learner-centered, accessible, and inclusive of Common Core State Standards (CCSS), National Core Arts Standards and NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts Benchmarks”. This workshop is made possible by the Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation.
