THA - Earth Day - In
THA - Earth Day - Into the Wild of Ontario with David T. Chapman

Wednesday, Apr. 23, 4:00 - 5:00pm
or call 519-285-3219.

This adventurous program has a great mix of exciting subjects covering all levels of the atmosphere. We begin on the edge of space, exploring some of the neat things that happen there and discover how earth protects us from them. This includes Aurora Borealis, Meteors and Noctilucent Clouds. We travel down to ground level where we take a brief but fun look at the Ontario Trillium. You wouldn't believe how many petals some of these flowers can have! We take a look up into Ontario's deciduous and coniferous trees where we can see the natural habitat of many of the most colourful songbirds along with some of the most mysterious - the Owls. At last we finish off this show taking an indepth look at examples of the weirdest clouds you can witness in our troposphere and how they happen!

Bio:

David T. Chapman started doing photography as well as storm chasing at the age of 16. He is self-taught in the art of photography and has been pursuing his career professionally since the age of eighteen. He learned at a very young age from his father to appreciate his surrounding environment. He enjoys taking photographs and videos of weather phenomena, especially lightning, as well as scenery and nature. David likes to seek out unusual examples of nature such as inferior mirages, albino birds, ice caves and various types of naturally created vortexes, ranging in size from dust devils to tornadoes. To date, he has found multi-petalled Ontario trilliums, the highest of which had 33 petals. David is also a professional speaker and enjoys entertaining and educating a great crowd. His main areas of expertise are Weather/Aurora Borealis, Local Interests and Scenery of Ontario, Birds and Wildlife.
