To celebrate women and girls in Afghanistan, we offer the ancient body art of henna. It is a plant-based dye that safely stains the skin for one to two weeks. We welcome artist Kasia who will be give each participant a unique henna design on the back of his/her hand. We will show the Bollywood Pride & Prejudice (PG-13) movie Bride & Prejudice during the henna session.
The art of making henna tattoos, called mendhi, goes way back, at least 5,000 years. If you need some ideas for what you’d like drawn on you, the Henna Page Symbol Index has some suggestions.
