Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Viking Mars Landers: A personal history with the program as related by Jack Frohbeiter.
RCA participated in the design of the first spaceship to successfully land on another planet. Jack Frohbieter will discuss the Viking Mars Spaceship as seen through the eyes of one of its designers 50 years after the Spaceship was launched. He will provide insights into the evolution of the system and will discuss the RCA Astro role in the mission.
Jack has spent his career in the aerospace industry. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. He participated in the design of numerous satellites before being appointed VP and GM of RCA Astro Electronics Division and later the GE Government Electronics Division with facilities in Moorestown and Syracuse NY. He left GE to become the President and COO of Fairchild Space and Defense Corp. Jack was a recipient of the RCA Engineering Excellence award, the Astro Star award and the University of Evansville Outstanding Alumni award.
Also of note, Jack came to the Hightstown area in 1966 with his wife Cathy and children. They moved to Cranbury Neck Road in Cranbury in 1979. Recently, in late 2023 they retired to Newtown, PA.
