Have you ever wanted to have a thoughtful, respectful conversation about banned and challenged books?
Join our well-read patron, Christina, in a monthly book discussion focused on reading and discussing award winning banned/challenged titles.
Reading with the Banned discussion group will meet at the Main Library on the second Wednesday of each month at 4, beginning June 11.
The work to be discussed in July is The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. Copies will be available for registrants at the Check-Out Desk.
Registration is required so that we may determine the number of books to order.

Nebula are clouds of gas and dust that can either be leftover from a supernova explosion or the birthplace of stars. Astronomers study these objects by looking at the light produced by different elements. Students will learn about nebulae and make their own nebula spin art. Presented by the Dudley Observatory at Siena— Tue, 7/15 at 2pm at Lansingburgh. Ages 9-13.

Follow in the footsteps of the popular HBO series as we explore the many buildings and streets in the historic district that were used in filming Seasons One and Two of The Gilded Age. Behind the scenes stories will be shared as we look at the grand buildings and streetscapes that became the backdrop for this series set in 1882.

Join the library for an open sewing class on the first and third Thursdays of the month at our Lansingburgh Branch. The program will be led by Sarah Collen, owner of the Troy Sew Shop. This is a drop-in program for attendees to bring works-in-progress, get help from other attendees and Sarah, and generally spend time with other sewists in the community. The library will provide several sewing machines, but participants are encouraged to bring their own as well. There will be fabric scraps and limited sewing supplies provided for those interested in beginning a new project.
No registration is required for this event, but participants are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to ensure enough space for all.

This project is inspired by Ghost River, a painting by artist Tyson Reeder. For the program, participants will create their own ghostly scenes, out of air-dry clay, and cardstock.
