Nerds at Nite is an adult (17+) gaming group that meets twice a month to play board games of all types, including Chronology, Tsuro, Point City, Splendor, and many other tabletop games (that can be played in under 2 hours). Attendees are welcome to bring games to share, but it's not required for attendance. Every meeting involves lots of fun, friendly competition, and a dedicated community of fellow nerds!

The Rhinebeck Historical Society is open during office hours to anyone interested in researching genealogies, houses and buildings, and general local history. The local history room houses a large collection of books and resources including:
  • Church and cemetery records
  • Genealogies, in both book and CD form
  • Abstracts of wills, marriages, and deaths
  • Notebooks compiled by respected historians and genealogists
  • Surname and building resource files
  • Books on the history of Rhinebeck and the surrounding area

This group is for anyone interested in learning more or sharing wisdom about investing. Everyone has something to contribute and can suggest some areas they want to explore. We are not experts, nor teachers, but will freely share our experiences. We will start with a questionnaire and choose a topic for each week going forward based on group consensus. 
Drawing on the Right

Artist and instructor Christine Livesey will teach students how to see objects properly in order to draw them. We will learn about positive and negative space, line quality and composition. Students just need to bring pencil and paper. This class is for adult beginners who would like to learn how to draw. No artistic abilities required!

Becoming a Bird: Cre

If you were a bird, what kind would you be? Using recycled and everyday materials, participants will create a personalized bird sculpture inspired by local and endangered birds, human-bird myths, and fantasy. Materials will be provided, but participants may bring personal recycled materials or lightweight mementos to use in collage style, such as photos, decorative papers, packaging, ribbons, labels,
etc.

Come meet with our in-house, tech-savvy teens for personal one-on-one technology instruction.

They can help you:

- learn how to use FaceTime, Zoom, Instagram, FaceBook
- sign-up for your booster shots and Excelsior Pass
- access on-line content like magazines, books, podcasts, and audiobooks
- set-up streaming services like Netflix, HBO on your phone or tablet
- manage your email, get rid of spam and junk mail
- set-up online grocery shopping for curbside pickup or delivery at Tops, Adams, Target, etc.
- access your favorite music or newscasts with Spotify, Pandora

Join Jane Korn and other parents, caregivers, and children (ages 3 mo-4 yrs) for a child play group at the library! This is an opportunity for parents to connect and share ideas while their young ones interact, play and grow. Space is limited. Registration is required each week through our online calendar.

If you can no longer attend, please call the library at 845-876-4030 or email info@starrlibrary.org to let us know so we can admit someone from the waitlist. If you are on the waitlist, you may check in upstairs to see if space opens up.
