Becoming Darlene: The Story of Belchertown Patient #4952
Hubbard Memorial Library
Thursday, Jul. 10, 6:00 PM
For adults.
Come and hear the story of Darlene, the focus of author Ed Orzechowski's new book titled Becoming Darlene: The Story of Belchertown Patient #4952. At the age of seven years old, Darlene was sent to the Belchertown State School among more than 1200 other patients where she stayed until she was 17. Upon release, she had no day-to-day life training and very little social skills, yet she persevered and created a life of her own. Come hear this story of tragedy, humanity, and hope directly from the author and Darlene herself!
