Marshal Training with Alexis Danzig
Community Room

Thursday, Jun. 5, 6-8pm
Marshaling is a form of democratic resistance and grassroots community building. This 2-hour training covers the role/s of marshals at a demonstration (a vigil, a moving picket, or on a march) under the First Amendment, with an emphasis on de-escalating interactions with the police and possible counter-protestors. This training is offered for free to pro-democracy community groups.

Alexis Danzig has trained hundreds of people to participate in principled nonviolent direct action since joining ACT UP NY in 1988.  After helping to co-found Rise and Resist in response to the 2016 election, Alexis brings free marshal and civil disobedience trainings to pro-democracy communities interested in learning how to organize to protect our civil liberties and become braver together in public.
