New art experiences every week! Discover your creativity at multiple art stations, each one offering a chance to try something new. With the support of our enthusiastic teen volunteers, participants will:

• Explore different art materials and techniques
• Build creative habits
• Learn new skills through hands-on fun

Travel through history and explore the art of different time periods in this hands-on summer series! Each week, we’ll dive into a new era—from the mysterious symbols of ancient Egypt to the bold colors of Pop Art—and create artwork inspired by the time. Register for one session or sign up for all seven to experience a full creative journey through the ages!

Throughout history, artists have borrowed, copied, and outright stolen from one another—sometimes for inspiration, sometimes for deception. From skillful forgeries to famous art heists, we’ll uncover the most convincing copies, the greatest art scams, and the blurred line between imitation and innovation. Will you be able to tell which works are real and which are frauds?

Story time is our favorite time of the week! For kids aged 1 to 5 years plus their loved ones - come by to enjoy songs, rhymes, and stories with Ms. Heather.
An active group where parents and caregivers are heartilyencouraged to play & sing along. Siblings are also welcome to attend. Stop first at the Children’s Desk for nametags.

This July, take creative control and curate your own story! Camp NaNoWriMo gives you the flexibility to set your own word-count goal and write whatever inspires you—whether it’s a novel, short stories, poetry, or something entirely unique. Meet up once a week to work on your writing, play games, and connect with other young writers as you bring your story to life!

Registration is limited to 20 participants

Play new and familiar board games alongside our friendly teen volunteers! Every week offers a fun way to:
Discover and learn new games.
Practice teamwork and taking turns,
and make new friends in a relaxed, playful setting!

We’ll also have challenges, day-long competitions, & prizes.
We had so much fun on Lego Day in 2024 that the kids begged us to bring

Our discussion was rained out by a thunderstorm in June so we will have a special walk in July. 

Our walking book discussion meets at Nepaug Reservoir at the Route 202 gate to walk together and discuss our latest read.  You can join us by registering if you have not yet attended the group.  We will then put you on our mailing list if you enjoy this monthly walk and discussion.  Use the registration link or you may email Beth Van Ness if you have questions or comments.  The email is bvanness@libraryconnection.info or call 860-693-5800.  All adults are welcome to join our discussions.  

This group will meet again in September and the details will be on our website some time in August.  We usually meet at 2:00pm but are meeting earlier in July as it is a special summer meeting.

People have started to go missing in the kingdom of Aesousal, disappearing in the middle of the night. Mysterious strangers are also beginning to pop up, spewing prophesies about the revival of an elder god. Will you be able to find the missing people, or will they fall victim to a gruesome fate? 

This campaign is for children in grades 5-8. All player levels are welcome.  Registration is required.  Space is limited to 6 participants.  We ask that you be available for the entire week-long campaign. Characters will be created on day 1 of the campaign, starting at level 5.

Calling all Adventurers! The Canton Public Library will host a special D&D group for high school students only.  Join Dungeon Master James Barker as we cover the basics, create characters, and launch a campaign.  

Endless storms plague the planet. One town, isolated from the rest, is safe from the lightning that falls like heavy snow- within it, a solitary tree provides salvation. You arrive here to save yourself from the apocalypse- to give yourself a few more days of life. Instead, you find an answer.

This campaign is for folks in high school, including those who are becoming freshmen next year or those who just left as seniors!

 AFTERNOON Book Buddies – Our 15th Summer! REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED for this very popular program!For children ages 4–8. Each child is paired with a teen volunteer buddy for an hour of fun each week, sharing stories, laughter, and a love of books.Kids must be available to participate in at least 4 of the 6 Tuesdays of the program.
Every session includes:  

• Reading books with their buddy
• A hands-on STEAM activity or game
• Group camp songs

The program runs for 6 weeks, and the final day includes a pizza party celebration!
