Caspar David Friedrich was a leading figure of the German Romantic movement, known for his vast, mysterious, and atmospheric landscapes that explored the relationship between humanity and nature. He reimagined landscape painting by emphasizing the spiritual and emotional connections between the individual and the natural world. Join Mary Vahey as she discusses Friedrich and the current exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Caspar David Friedrich: The Soul of Nature. This is the first comprehensive exhibit dedicated Friedrich in the United States and features over 75 of his works, including oil paintings, drawings, and sketches. The exhibition at the Met is on view through May 11, 2025.
