Paddy on the Railway: Irish Laborers and the Building of the Great Western Railroad
Hubbard Memorial Library
Tuesday, Jun. 10, 6:00 PM
For adults.
Living historian Dennis will be back, in costume, to cover The Great Western Railroad. It was built to connect the eastern part of Massachusetts to the western part, eventually linking to the Hudson River via the Albany and Schenectady Railroad in New York. Many ethnic groups contributed to the workforce, both skilled and unskilled, though the majority were Irish immigrants from small Massachusetts towns, including Ludlow!
Dennis has been a museum professional in the living history field for forty years!
Sponsored by the Ludlow Historical Commission and the Hubbard Memorial Library.
