A community Afrofuturist, librarian, and teacher, Maurice Broaddus’s award-winning work has appeared in places like Lightspeed Magazine, Black Panther: Tales from Wakanda, Out There Screaming, Asimov’s Magazine, Weird Tales, Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, and Uncanny Magazine.
His books include the sci-fi novels Sweep of Stars and Breath of Oblivion; the steampunk works, Buffalo Soldier and Pimp My Airship; and the middle-grade detective novels, The Usual Suspects and Unfadeable. His project, Sorcerers, is being adapted as a television show for AMC!
He is an editor at Apex Magazine.
Boraddus joins us to talk about his middle grade work, Unfadeable. This event is free and open to all ages.

This summer "Color Your World" with creative fun every Friday afternoon at the library! This week we will be building models of our favorite characters and images with fuse beads. Please note, this program will take place in the Lower Level Meeting Room off Harry's Coffee Bar instead of the Art Room. This free program is open to students in grades 1-6, and no registration is required.

We want to celebrate your graduation from Kindergarten! Join us for a delicious cake decorating class. Each child will be given their own cake, instructed in icing and decorating. Children ages 5-6 are invited to attend this free event. Registration is required. Only one child may be added to each registration slot. More than one child from a family may attend, but they must be registered seperately. Please be sure to include any food allergies when reigistering. Since children will be decorating their own cakes, this class will get messy, be sure to dress kids accordingly. Each child will need a parent or responsible older person (grandparent, sibling, aunt, friend) present during the program.
