Little Free Pride Library Opening & Tie-Dye Party
Outside

Friday, Sep. 27, 3-4pm
Come celebrate the grand opening of our new Pride-themed Little Free Library, now located by the bike rack in front of the library and stocked with LGBTQIA+ titles for children and teens generously donated by BeckHook Pride. To help you show your colors proudly and celebrate the Freedom to Read, we'll also be tie-dying. Bring your own t-shirt and we'll provide the rest. Supplies are limited, please register if you'd like to participate in the tie-dying portion of the event.

The PLFL's design and initial hand-painting was completed by the LGBTQIA+ and allied youth of Rhinebeck and Red Hook at BeckHook Pride's Craft Nite and Q-club, and this beautiful collaborative creation was finished and weatherproofed by BeckHook Pride president Michele Mugnos. Supplies and artistic guidance were generously donated by local artist Ali Roland.

The theme for Banned Books Week 2024 (September 22-28) is "Freed Between the Lines." We can find freedom in the pages of a book — but book bans and censorship threaten that freedom, along with many other rights and institutions. During Banned Books Week 2024 and beyond, let’s share our love of right to read and the freedom found in books. Let’s be Freed Between the Lines!Read more about Banned Books Week on the American Library Association website
