Adult Literacy Tutor Training
Friday, Dec. 8, 1:00p.m.
Share your love of reading - tutor an adult learner!
One in four adults in San Joaquin County lacks basic literacy skills. Imagine getting through your day without being able to read street signs, news, text messages, emails, warning labels, prescription instructions, etc. In the Adult Literacy program, volunteer tutors provide one-on-one tutoring to adult learners so they can enjoy those same basic things that we often take for granted. Volunteers are asked to meet with their learners at least once a week. Meetings take place at the library. Tutors must be 18 years of age, pass a background check, and be able to read and write competently in English.
