Join the Goleta & Santa Ynez Valley Libraries for a weeklong celebration of children’s literacy! From May 3rd – May 7th, the Goleta Valley, Buellton, and Solvang Libraries will host book giveaways and programming in honor of El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros (Children's Day/Book Day). Often called “Día”, this national literacy initiative celebrates children, families, and reading. Día represents a year-round commitment to sharing books with children and is celebrated across the country by schools, libraries, families and more.
 
We are looking forward to a fun-filled week with great programs and giveaways, thanks to generous donations from The Friends of the Goleta Valley Library and community partners Seven Seas Press, SEE International, The Goleta Education Foundation, Ice in Paradise, and Santa Barbara WIC. Here are the ways you can celebrate at Goleta Valley Library:

Fiesta Flowers Craft: Pick up a kit at the library or use supplies you have at home! Then join us online to create this beautiful craft together on Thursday May 5th at 3:00 p.m., just in time for Mother’s Day. Register here.
 
Come to our in-person programs:
Bilingual Storytime: Join us for a reading of The Three Sunflowers/Los Tres Girasoles on Thursday, May 5th at 10:00 a.m. Enter to win a free copy of the book! We will be joined by a special guest from Santa Barbara WIC.
Fiesta Frijoles Contest: Stop by the library to guess how many pinto beans are in the jar for a chance to win a prize bundle.
 
In addition to our great programming, patrons will have several opportunities to enter our prize giveaway for a chance to win a Día Prize Pack filled with a copy of The Three Sunflowers/Los Tres Girasoles, skating passes from Ice in Paradise, special goodies, and much, much more! One lucky grand prize winner will take home a Día Prize Pack, a gift basket from our friends at SEE International, and 8 weeks of free ice-skating lessons courtesy of our friends at Ice in Paradise.
