Saturday, Jun. 14, 10:30 am
Something Else Entirely is a speculative fiction book club for busy readers that meets every other month on the second Saturday at Bill Memorial Library, starting February each year. Meetings go from 10:30-11:30 am, though members are encouraged to keep the discussion going after the fact. Selections for the upcoming book will be available one month in advance at Bill Memorial Library for convenience, though readers wishing to get an earlier start can request the book sooner by speaking to a member of staff.
What is speculative fiction? It's an umbrella term that encompasses many different genres: science fiction and fantasy, of course, but also horror, superheroes, dystopian stories and alternate histories. Something Else Entirely aims to hit a variety of moods and pacings based on member input each year, as well as hitting both contemporary speculative fiction as well as some of the classics.
2024 Selections:
February 8th: Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
April 12th: Redshirts by John Scalzi
June 14th: The Enchanted Hacienda by J.C. Cervantes
August 9th: This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone
October 11th: What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher
December 13th: Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin
Library hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday and Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
