Dinosaur Adventure S
Saturday, Nov. 23, 11:00 AM
Come join an exciting dinosaur adventure with field paleontologists Mike and Roberta Straka!
Finding a dinosaur may be accomplished by one person, but getting a dinosaur out of the ground is always a team effort. During the show, children will explore all the different skills that come together on a paleontological dig. Audience members will experience the thrill of digging up a real Triceratops dinosaur bone and then help construct a dinosaur on a large cut-out.
The show will feature the skull of Mr. Nixon, an eight-foot Triceratops skull discovered by the team in 1996, and examine the characteristics of this dinosaur. Audience participation, a touch of magic, and show & tell with rare fossils will round out this fun, educational and exciting adventure!
Registration is required.

Though not a native New Yorker, Leonard Bernstein had a long association with the city of New York. He wrote three legendary Broadway Musicals celebrating the city he loved. Marc Courtade discusses On the Town, Wonderful Town and West Side Story, all three showcasing different aspects of “New York, New York, a helluva a town!” We will listen to musical examples, to examine the eras involved (1930’s with Wonderful Town, 1940’s with On the Town, and 1950’s with West Side Story) and how they reflect New York. We will also examine his “problem” musicals, Candide and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, which still show Bernstein’s strong musical voice even in flawed (though fascinating) settings.

Presented by Marc Courtade
