Pomfret Library is welcoming back magician Ed Pop for our closing Summer program. Ed doesn't just do magic tricks, he tells a story with his tricks and often invites members of the audience to participate and make the magic happen! 
Ed keeps everyone in the audience engaged and it is a blast to end the season.

Watercolor Workshop for Garden & Nature Journaling 
with Nora Robbins

Wednesdays, July 10, 17, 24, and 31
10 am-12 noon

A journal can include thoughts, feelings, tangible joys and more. Topics fior this workshop will inlcude birds, insects, flowers, plants, and anything else that Mother Nature provides.We will draw and watercolor our pages enhancing them with borders, lettering and any thing else that you want to add. Skills learned can then be used in any other sort of Art Journal - an Idea Journal, Gratitude Journal, Travel Journal, Bullet Journal, Garden Journal, Food Journal etc..

All necessary materials will be supplied (although you can bring your own if you prefer). The first 10 people to register will receive a clothbound watercolor journal.
 
Bio: Nora Robbins has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, specializing in graphic design. "I learned my profession prior to computer graphics, so I know how to get my hands colorfully dirty. Art, design and painting has been a life long journey for me since my early childhood. It has been my sole profession." Her journey has taken her from a career in Boston in a design firm, and corporate design, to art director in book publishing, to her present career as a freelance graphic designer. Clients include: Simmons College, Sharpe Hill Vineyard, University of Connecticut, The Pomfret Times, High Desert Electric and Lighting, Eversource Energy Center at UConn among others.

Nora Robbins began teaching watercolor about three years ago and hopes to continue to do so, along with her design work.

Bring your current project – embroidery, knitting, crochet, counted cross stitch, needlepoint, or what-have-you – and spend an hour in the company of others who love fiber and textile arts. Participants share their knowledge and their projects, past and present.
The group gathers for about an hour most Wednesday mornings. The schedule is loose but most of our stitchers arrive some time between 10:30 and 11. We would love to see what you’re working on!

Music therapy has been shown to have a positive impact on individuals with dementia. It can improve social engagement, communication and memory, and reduce agitation and anxiety. The community music therapy program at Pomfret Public Library meets weekly and is led by Leah Muller, MMT, MT-BC, a music therapist with CT Music Therapy Services, LLC. You can expect musical engagement through active listening, singing,  instrument play, reminiscence and movement to music. Participants should come with their care partner who is also welcome to join the group if space allows.

Yoga on the Deck

Aubrey is back for another summer of yoga on the deck!
This will be our first summer with our new and improved deck and we are so excited to yoga all over it. 
All experience levels are welcome, please bring your own mat.

Join us on the first Thursday of each month for creativity and camaraderie! We'll have half an hour of chatting about our current projects, challenges, and goals before splitting off for dedicated writing time.

*REGISTRATION CLOSED* - If the camp goes well, it will definitly happen again in the future! 
Have you ever wished the library would hold a summer camp?! Well so did we! This August we will be hosting a 4 day all day summer camp. Wild Words Summer Camp will revolve around connecting to nature and conservation, in the most fun immersive hands on way. Each day will have a similar schedule including STEM activites, indoor & outdoor play, and experiments. On top of all that we'll have a yoga instructor coming each day to lead us through a nature yoga session AND each day will have different special guests like the Audubon, New Horizons, Denison Pequotseput Nature Center, and The Last Green Valley. 

Camp will run August 6th-9th, 9am-4pm

Children must be ages 9 to 12 years old to attend. Registration is Required
, if you have multiple children please sign them up individually. please jump on the waitlist if full! You never know and it also helps us gauge interest if we host more camps! Full details will be emailed to all parents/caregivers who register their child. If you have questions please email Heather at hreilly@pomfretlibrary.org.

Pomfret Public Library hosts Story Time Tuesdays at 10:30am. Each session includes themed songs, stories, crafts, and games with Miss Heather. Story Time is a great way to spark your child’s imagination, introduce early reading skills, and practice motor skills and group play. We begin our hour with a free play moment so that families may arrive without pressure to be exactly on time.

Registration is not mandatory, you’re welcome to pop in, but it is helpful communication and supply reasons.
