Meet the Author & Il
Tuesday, Apr. 23, 6:00 pm

About the Book: Caterpillars: What Will I be When I Get to be Me?

Is it a worm? Is it a snake? No! It’s a caterpillar . . .

. . .  and it’s on its way to one of the most magical transformations in the insect world, from a crawling digestive tube to a fluttering Glasswing, Luna moth, or Monarch. In the latest addition to KEVIN MCCLOSKEY’s beloved Giggle and Learn series, young readers will explore how caterpillars morph into the many different moths and butterflies that help pollinate our world.

Growing up is scary, but caterpillars can lead the way!

About the Author:

Kevin McCloskey, Professor Emeritus, Kutztown University of PA. Born: Rahway, NJ.

Author/illustrator of the Giggle and Learn Series for Toon Books. He has traveled the country from the Franklin Institute, Philadelphia to the California Academy of Sciences sharing fascinating facts about common creatures.

We Dig Worms! was created in 2015 when his wife, Patt, a librarian, asked for a funny worm book to read to children. He painted worms on recycled grocery bags. Françoise Mouly, the publisher of Toon Books, art directed and edited We Dig Worms! into a real book. Since then he has written five more Toon Books about little creatures.

Sponsored by Politics & Prose.

Favorite Poem Night
Wednesday, Apr. 24, 7:00 pm
Celebrate Poetry Month with a reprise of our annual Favorite Poem Night on Wednesday, April 24, at 7pm.  Following up on our children's and teens poetry program on Sat. April 20--as Taylor Swift releases her new recording The Tortured Poets Department--we wanted to encourage participants this year, especially, to consider song lyrics as they decide which poem they'd like to read to the group.  There will, as always be refreshments.

Email your name, phone number, and the name of the poem and poet, tortured or not, you have selected, to Jill Raymond at: jillr@takomaparkmd.gov by Apr. 21. Poems must be published and cannot be the reader's own.

All ages are welcome! Folks are invited to read or just listen!
