Library Programs

Parents with babies & toddlers are invited to join Miss Katie for a simple story, songs, and sensory exploration. During Summer Reading, we’ll be reading from the Little Naturalists Series & the Little Masters Series! Registration recommended for each week; walk-in availability will depend on space & supplies.  Register online at each of the dates below you plan to attend, or call the library at 724-763-3591.

During the summer, teens are invited to learn how to create their own graphic novel, comic, or other visual story throughout the summer using specialy software. Write your own story, use your favorite for inspiration, or use one of our prompts, and work as much as you'd like inside the library or at home.  Each week, additional assistance will be available to help you with your design.  Registration is required. Teens are welcome to spend the morning playing PS4, Wii, and other games in the Programming Area & Study Lounge.

Bring your favorite reads to share with others OR bring books you hated - and tell us why!  We’ll focus on a different genre each week of Summer Reading to help you find your next summer read! No registration required; drop in to chat as you're able!

Do you knit or crochet? Have you always wanted to learn? Meet up with this knitty group AM or PM! Learn, work on your own project, or work together to benefit the community.  This program is free, and walk-ins are always welcome to join. 

This program has reached capacity. The waitlist is also full at this time. If you had previously signed up for the waitlist, a library staff member will contact you if space becomes available.  Registering for the waitlist does not guarantee you a spot.  Thank you!

This week's activity is experimenting with Leaning Towers!  Registration is required for each week. Join Miss Katie & special guests to read a story, dance, sing, & create! During Summer Reading, we’ll be special guests and activities each week! During the summer, children ages 3 and up are invited to pair up with guest readers from our local schools to read together and build early literacy skills. Registration is required for each week. Meet up with others on their weight loss and healthy living journeys ecah week for talk, tips, and much needed support.  Individuals age 18 and over are welcome to join Weigh to Go Wednesday each week at 6pm, with weigh-ins starting at 5:30pm.  

No registration needed!  Please feel free to stop in during a meeting to see what it's all about!  If you'd like to join the group, you can do so at that time!

Feel like you're stuck at home with the kids? Every Thursday at 1:00 pm, parents and caregivers are welcome to sit together and chat (with other adults!) while their children play, learn and socialize in the library's children's area. Ages 0+

During the summer, children ages 8 and up are invited to experience what it would be like to survive some of the greatest disasters and events throughout history!  We’ll read a new book each week, discuss, and work on a featured activity!  This week's book is I Survived the Wellington Avalanche.  Registration is required for each week. Visit the National Rooms at the University of Pittsburgh  and learn about their history without taking the drive! Registration required. Register online or call the library at 724-763-3591.

Join Miss Katie on Fridays at 11:30am for a special lapsit storytime with our littlest library friends.  A short story will be read by Miss Katie as parents/caregivers hold their little ones on their laps and follow along with their own copies of the book.  Exposure to book handling, following along with words, and reading aloud helps garner early literacy skills and promote building a strong vocabulary from birth.

Open to children ages 0 to 2 and their caregivers.  Registration is not required but is appreciated for planning purposes! Feel free to come as you can!

Adults and seniors can get help with laptops, smartphones, apps, email, and more from our Tech Tutor!
