Enjoy a lively discussion of classic literature with other book lovers on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Pick up a copy of each month's title at the Check Out Desk. No registration required. For adults 18+.
Creative Crafters: K
Wednesday, Jan. 22, 7:00 pm
Create a unique keyring with yarn and plastic canvas. For adults 18+. Registration begins on Wednesday, January 15 at 9 am.

This craft will be repeated in February.  Only attend one.
Game Night: Black Hi
Thursday, Jan. 23, 7:00 pm
Black History is American history. Test your knowledge and learn something new about African-American history in the United States. Small prizes awarded for this friendly competition. For adults 18+. Registration required and begins Thursday, January 16 at 9:00 am.
Feeding Your Baby &
Saturday, Jan. 25, 10:30 a.m.
Parents and caregivers of children ages 6-mos - 2 years are welcome to join us for a Nutrition Education Session with Natalie Caine-Bish, Ph.D., RD, LD of KSU. As a registered dietician, she will discuss food transitions, snacking, food allergies, food safety, food portions, and answer questions from attendees. Registration is required and begins one week in advance of the event.

Saturday, Jan. 25, 12 - 5 pm
While you’re enjoying MSK’s Snow Day downtown, stop by the library’s cafe to warm up with complimentary hot chocolate and swap puzzles with other enthusiasts. We’ll even have some community puzzles set up to work on. All ages, no registration.
Fiction To Film Book
Monday, Jan. 27, 7:00 pm
Meets the 4th Monday of each month from 7:00-8:00pm to explore books that have led to or were adapted from movies.

Library book clubs are held in the Bumphrey Room and do not require registration (except Diverse Voices which meets on Zoom and requires registration).  Pick up a book at the Check Out desk a few weeks before the discussion; some books may also be found in digital format.  Book clubs are for adults ages 18+.
Board Game Club
Sunday, Feb. 2, 1:30 - 4:30
Enjoy playing board games the first Sunday of each month from 1:30 - 4:30 in the library's 2nd floor meeting room.  Bring a friend or make some new ones!  

All ages welcome.  Under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required.

Meets the 1st Monday of the month at 11:00 am for readers who love Monday mornings, can’t get enough books, and have eclectic reading habits.

No Shelf Control is held in the 2nd floor Meeting Room and does not require registration.  Pick up a book at the Check Out desk a few weeks before the discussion; some books may also be found in digital format.  Adults18+.

Cinematic Crafters

If you love crafting, meeting other crafters, and watching Hallmark movies, plan to become a Cinematic Crafter! This new program meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room. Bring your current project and work on it while watching a fun movie on the big screen and chatting. Adults 18+. No registration.

Meets the 1st Thursday of the month to explore different genres every month.

Home Ec 101: Seed Pa
Wednesday, Feb. 12, 6 - 9 pm
Help get the Seed Library ready for the 2025 planting season by packaging seeds donated by community members and our seed company partners. Drop in any time between 6 and 9 and stay as long as you'd like. Enjoy talking with fellow gardeners about last year's garden and plans for the upcoming one. No registration required. All ages; 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Meets the 2nd Thursday of the month at 11:00 am to discuss popular fiction books.

Create a work of art for Portage Board of Developmental Disabilities' Limitless Art Show! Canvases, paint, brushes, and other other art supplies will be provided. Canvases will be displayed in locations throughout the county in April. Art Night is open to artists of all ages and abilities. Those not participating in the Limitless Art Show can take their canvas home. Registration is required and begins Monday, February 3 at 9am. Please register for only one session.

Kent Silent Book Clu
Thursday, Feb. 20, 2:00 pm
Our new Silent Book Club brings readers together! There's no required reading--just bring a good book and read it in companionable silence while enjoying coffee or a snack.  After 45 minutes of quiet reading, you can stay and socialize, get and share some reading recommendations, or be on your way!

The Kent Silent Book Club will meet the 3rd Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm at The Cleveland Bagel Cafe, 436 E. Main St in Kent. Registration is requested, but drop ins are welcome. For adults 18+.

The basic schedule:
2:00 - 2:10 pm: Arrival, purchase snacks, and welcome
2:10 - 2:50 pm: Quiet reading
2:50 - 3 pm: Share recommendations
3 - 4 pm: Optional socializing or more reading (the Cafe closes at 4)
