Join us for upcoming events at Kent Free Library. All events are free and open to the public. Registration is required where noted.

Friends of KFL Book
Saturday, Apr. 13, 10 - 4 pm
The next Friends Book Sale will be April 11 - 14.  For sale will be adult and juvenile books, DVDs, audiobooks, and music CDs that have been withdrawn from the library's collection and donated by community members.

Thursday, April 11 from 5 - 8 pm: Members Only Preview.  Memberships may be purchased at the door.
Friday, April 12 from 10 am - 4 pm
Saturday, April 13 from 10 am - 4 pm: Scanners permitted*
Sunday, April 14 from 1:30 - 4:30 pm: Bag Sale.  Fill a bag with books for $5.  AV is 1/2 off.

Cash or check is accepted as payment.  No refunds.  All proceeds go to Friends of KFL to support library services and programs.

*ISBN scanners will not be permitted at the sale except on Saturday.

Concert Series: Jon

Jon Mosey's guitar playing is rooted in Piedmont Blues Ragtime with a healthy dose of old-time Bluegrass flatpicking. Jon is a full-time professional musician who plays nearly every instrument with strings, and he has six solo albums. Enjoy listening to Jon Mosey's variety of styles on the Library's second floor balcony. No registration required. All ages are welcome.

Enjoy a lively discussion of classic literature with other book lovers on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Pick up a copy of each month's title at the Check Out Desk. No registration required. For adults 18+.
Mocktails and Master
Thursday, Apr. 18, 6:30 pm
Learn how to combine reclaimed paper and paint to create a stunning, abstract seascape. Registration is required and begins Thursday, April 11 at 9am. For adults 18+.

This is a repeat of the March class.  Anyone who registered for the March class may not register for this one, regardless of whether they attended.
Film-to-Fiction Book

Meets the 4th Monday of each month from 7:00-8:00pm to explore books that have led to or were adapted from movies.

Library book clubs are held in the Bumphrey Room and do not require registration (except Diverse Voices which meets on Zoom and requires registration).  Pick up a book at the Check Out desk a few weeks before the discussion; some books may also be found in digital format.  Book clubs are for adults ages 18+.
Creative Crafters: C

Come learn some crochet basics. Ages 18+ welcome to attend. Registration is required and begins on Wednesday, April 17 at 9 am.

This is a repeat of the March program.  You may only attend one.  If you registered for the March program, you may not register for the April program, regardless of whether you attended.
Game Night: Portage

Learn interesting facts about our home, Portage County, Ohio during this laid back, friendly trivia competition. Registration required and begins Thursday, April 18 at 9:00 am.. For adults 18+.
Kent American Roots

The Kent Free Library is a venue for the 2024 Kent American Roots Music Festival. Listen to experienced guitarist and singer/songwriter Guy Pernetti perform on the Library's second floor balcony. Enjoy Guy Pernetti's clean guitar work, unique vocal interpretation, and various styling that express an intimacy and feeling for the music.

The Rubber City Ukes are Akron-based ukulele players of all ages and skill levels who gain performance skills in a group setting. Enjoy this family-friendly event on the library's second floor balcony as the Rubber City Ukes perform a variety of songs in a fun, sing-along format.

No registration required.  All ages welcome.
