Join us for upcoming events at Kent Free Library. All events are free and open to the public. Registration is required where noted.

Walk and Talk for Pa
Monday, Jul. 26, 9:00 a.m.
Parents with children that can ride in a stroller are invited to join us for a walking program on Monday mornings at Tannery Park. We will meet at Tannery Park and complete a 30 to 45 minute walk. This is a great opportunity to meet other parents with small children and get in some exercise! Registration is required for each meeting. Registration begins one week in advance of each meeting. Registrants will be notified via telephone or email if meetings are cancelled due to inclement weather. 
Treat Your Shelf Boo
Monday, Jul. 26, 6:30 pm
Join this adult book group and discuss a variety of diverse "anything goes" fiction titles. Pick up a copy of this month's book, Deep Water by Patricia Highsmith, at the check out desk. For adults 18 and up.  Registration is required.
Mocktails & Masterpi
Wednesday, Jul. 28, 6:30 pm
Pour a glass of your favorite beverage and create a beautiful painting in the comfort of your own home by following along with a Facebook demonstration.  Kits containing a canvas and painting supplies will be available at the Information Desk for registered attendees.  Supplies must be picked up by Tuesday, July 27 at 9:00 pm.   Any supplies not picked up will be offered to patrons on the waiting list.  Registration starts on Wednesday, July 14 at 9:00 am.

Look for the filmed video tutorial on the Library's Facebook page on Wednesday, July 29 at 6:30 pm or on the library's YouTube channel after that.

Story Slam: Telling

Enjoy an evening of live, in-person story telling about our intricate relationships with animals. Story tellers of all experience levels are invited to prepare a 10 minute or less true story about a time when they had an encounter with a non-human creature that affected their life or understanding of the world. Subject matter and language of stories should be appropriate for a general audience. The order of storytellers will be at random and as many as possible will be included during the program. Those wishing to just listen are welcome. For adults ages 18+. 
Virtual Board Game C
Sunday, Aug. 1, 1:30 - 3:30 pm

Enjoy playing board games that work particularly well virtually. Registration is required.  Registrants will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.
Fancy Tails & Tales
Monday, Aug. 9, 7:00 pm
Kent Free Library formally invites all pets and their humans to a fancy Zoom Paw-ty in celebration of the end of Summer Reading Tails & Tales. Get dressed in your finest outfit, grab your human, and join us on this pet-tastic Zoom session! Best Dressed prizes will be given for Cat, Dog, and Other Pets. Summer reading prize winners will be announced at the Party.

A party goody bag with treats for humans and their pets will be given out to the first 40 registrants (registrants must specify DOG bag or CAT bag).  Registration begins Monday, July 26 at 9:00 am.  You will be notified if you were among the recipients to receive a goody bag. Goody bags may be picked up starting July 25 up until Saturday, August 7 at 5:00 pm.  Any goody bags not picked up by then will be offered to attendees further down the list, who will be notified to come in and pick up.

Diverse Voices Book

Discuss books from authors who have been historically sidelined due to discrimination. This month we are reading Your House Will Pay, by Steph Cha. Physical copies are available at the Check Out Desk and digital ebooks and audiobooks are available in Hoopla. Registration is required. Registrants will receive a confirmation email with a Zoom link. For adults 18 and up.
