The Chatham Letter Writing Society, a new group at the Chatham Public Library, meets on the first Monday evening of the month. 
In an era of texting, emails and social media, some people are looking to revive good penmanship and the handwritten word. We will meet at the library for “Letter Writing Socials” on the first Monday each month to practice the art of handwriting letters and cards for our loved ones. The library will supply stationery and cards. You may bring your favorite pens and some of your own stationery and cards to share with the group.
Refreshments will be provided by the library. All ages welcome!

In partnership with the Chatham Bookstore, we welcome local journalist, Ruth Bass, to the Chatham Public Library for a reading from her latest book.

Ruth Bass's fifth novel - The Triangle, a Tale of Love and Death.

This gritty crime novel, set in Massachusetts, tells the story of two older men and what happens when one finds out that he's been sharing the much younger Sylvia with another man. 
Chair Yoga on ZOOM

The practice of yoga can improve flexibility, range of motion, and balance, support healthy joints, enhance breathing, and promote mental calmness. Chair yoga creates a safe space for movement and balance. Kathy, MS, RN, AEA, RYT 200, has been a community health nurse for 43 years and an instructor in aquatics and yoga for over ten years. Join Mariola Strahlberg for a free series that focuses on simple health tips for your mind, body, and spirit, based on her program, The Power of One-Third.
This journey follows a spiral path from your outer individual life to your inner soul life. Commit to a new way of sleeping, working, loving and living; and begin to experience your New You.
Each class builds sequentially, and you will continue to practice at home. All registrants will receive Mariola’s book, The Power of One-Third and a journal to record their experiences.
This program is strategically offered before Curt Anthon's QiGong class, so you have the option to transition to Curt's class after Mariola’s.
Qigong

In Curt's class you will learn various Qigong sets and then work on a traditional TaiChi Form - a set series of movements and postures. This is a gentle practice that enhances coordination, balance and circulation. Curt is a member of the Yang Family Tai Chi Association (yangfamilytaichi.com) and certified through the association's Teacher Training Academy. He continues to pursue his personal education in TaiChi (Taijiquan) and Qigong, and is currently participating in a Nei Gong Program.

Gentle Yoga with Curt Starts on Saturday, July 20 at 1:30PM in the Chatham Public Library! Gentle Yoga with Amanda will also continue on Wednesdays at noon.

This is a slow-moving class targeting all areas of the body to create flexibility, strength and balance all from reclined, seated or kneeling positions. Occasional standing postures (optional) for those who want to work on balance.

The Chatham Writing Group is an informal group that meets to explore the craft of writing. They comment on, critique each other's work and read to one another. The goal of this group is to thoughtfully and honestly learn and grow together. The Oasis Journal 2017 and the Spencertown Community Writers program have featured some members' writing. The Chatham Writing Group presents a reading for the public in the Library annually.

An Afternoon of Poet

Poetry is meant to be shared. Join the Poetry Caravan of Columbia County and your friends and neighbors at the Chatham Public Library for an open-mic style poetry event. Bring your favorite poems (yours or someone else's) to share with the group or just come to listen and enjoy. Light refreshments will be provided. No registration required.
