Two Childhoods During the World War II Era

Join us at the Turlock Library as Hanna and Dieter Renning present two different perspectives of growing up during the tumultuous World War II era. Dieter will recount his personal experiences of living in Nazi Germany and surviving the bombing of Dresden.  Hanna will then share her story of her family escaping Nazi Germany to Panama and ending up in the United States. These personal accounts will intrigue anyone interested in history.

Modesto Solar Eclipse Viewing

On August 21, 2017, from 9:02 - 11:40 am. there will be a total solar eclipse visible in a belt spanning all across the US. This will be the first total solar eclipse visible from anywhere on mainland United States since the total solar eclipse in March 1979. Join us on the front steps of the Modesto Library from 9:45 - 10:45 am. as we safely observe this amazing celestial phenomenon!
