Día: Day of the Child/ Day of the Book

Children and their families are invited to celebrate Día de los niños/ Día de los libros (Day of the Child/ Day of the Book).  The library will offer crafts, activities, games and a special bilingual Story Time.  This year's theme is "One World, Many Rhythms."  A variety of service organizations will be available to provide information to participants. Children will receive free activity books.  Each child will also receive a free new book while supplies last, courtesy of the Friends of the Patterson Library.

Like to read? So do we! Come hang out on the last Thursday of every month for discussions, games and activities featuring our comic of the month. You can also cast a vote for what to read next! Comix Club participants will vote on this month's comic book in February. Suggested for ages 8 and up.
 
 
Petersen Event Center Modesto: Rosemary Wells

Join us at the SCOE Petersen Event Center, 720 12th Street, Modesto as award winning author, Rosemary Wells, explores the role books and art play in children's early development. This workshop for adults will offer parents, teachers and caregivers practical skills that support school readiness. Simultaneous translation into Spanish & Chinese will be available. There will be a book signing following the workshop. 

This is a collaboration between the Friends of the Modesto Library and the Stanislaus County Office of Education, sponsored through grants from Omega Nu and the Stanislaus Community Foundation. It is part of our Día initiative to bring multicultural children's literature to all families, regardless of cultural and linguistic background.
