Everybody Reads Blac

Everybody is reading Black River by S.M. Hulse in anticipation of regional author visits in early November. These include an appearance at Dahmen Barn on Monday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. and an author luncheon on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at noon at the Colfax Library.  Please reserve your copy today by visiting the online catalog at or calling 877-733-3375. As part of the Everybody Reads, citizens from across the Palouse and Lewiston, Clarkston Valley have been reading Black River and from Nov. 6-9 are invited to multiple presentations by the author. For more information, visit

The community is invited to experience "Inspired Palouse," a Plein Air inspired art competition and exhibition sponsored by the Colfax Arts Council. All submissions will be part of a juried selection process with $300 for 1st, $200 for 2nd, $300 for 3rd and $100 for the People's Choice award.

Entries can be painting, fabric art, sculpture, photography or other mediums. Deadline for JPEG image submission is July 24. For guidelines and entry forms contact

The exhibit is set for August 18-25 in The Center at Colfax Library with a Reception Celebration on Saturday, August 26 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Punch, coffee and refreshments will be served along with a no-host beer and wine bar. Award winners will be announced at 7 p.m.
