For teens and adults! Drop in. Check us out. It's free.

No theme. Stories should be appropriate for a family audience, even though there will not be an "audience" at Storytelling Club meetings.
Stories should be under 10 minutes.
Stories do not have to be in a finished format. You may practice rough draft stories.
If you want to tell a short story, put your name in the hat and we will draw names for telling order.
You can choose whether or not you would like feedback on your story.
After storytelling, we will spend a short time discussing storytelling technique, events, etc.
Feel free to bring a personal brownbag dinner if you are coming straight from work, or bring a treat for the group!
Bring your library card to check out books!

Members ages 5 to 12 years old meet once a month to share ideas, techniques, and show off LEGO creations. Sign up each month!

This month's theme: Farms and Foods! Build a tractor, build a silo. Build a cow or your pet Milo! Make a carrot, make a tomato; you could even make a baked potato! - ignite your imagination! Show & Tell at the end of the program. Pictures of LEGO Club and the fabulous creations and costumes will be added to our Facebook photo album. Creations will be on display in the library. Limited space and Lego bricks.

Celebrate your Monona Heritage at the Monona Public Library. There will be live music by Andy Nath, face painting by Janelle Kohlhagen, book displays, refreshments, and a mini-time capsule craft for each family to complete. In addition, items brought in and approved for the City of Monona Time Capsule will be on display.

TIME CAPSULE To commemorate, celebrate, and document Monona’s 75th Anniversary, the Monona Public Library is looking for small items significant to Monona or your Monona Family. The official City of Monona Time Capsule will be sealed on Saturday August 31 at Monona Motors, (Ernies Trading Post).

WHAT KINDS OF THINGS SHOULD WE BRING IN FOR THE TIME CAPSULE? All submissions for the Time Capsule must be no larger than 12 inches wide and 30 inches tall and must be submitted to the library by June 12.

· Photographs from years past or of your family today in front of your Monona house.

· Popular toys or tools.

· Labels or packaging of favorite foods or other products, clean. Include price tags.

· Filled journals or diaries.

· Letters of significance that may be of interest to someone many years from now.

· Currency.

· Pictures or photographs of clothing and fashion items of the current time.

· Indicators of high technology. Even if nobody can read the contents of a DVD in 50 or 100 years, you might still enclose one to demonstrate the state of the art.

We need to know especially how many children will be attending. Facepainting, one per child, first come, first served until 2:30p.m. Adults may type in AD when asked for age on this registration form.

Children ages birth to 9 are invited to drop in and drop off stuffed animals at the library in the evening. Critters spend the night at the library doing all sorts of fun things. The stuffed animals are then waiting for their owners at the library the next morning, where the night's activities are recounted on a digital picture frame.

His beloved song "Plant Myself a Forest" is a perfect song for our “Dig into Reading” summer theme. The kids will get to dig in soil, plant seeds, and watch a forest grow - all from the comfort of the library. (No real soil is used.) And as always, the kids will sing song, move some, act some, dance some, shout just a little bit, and laugh a bunch. The adults just sit back and enjoy the show.

As a former first grade teacher David knows the importance of developing good reading habits at an early age. His programs motivate kids to develop a life-long love of stories, books, and music. David’s shows are very interactive.

Young archeologists need someone to fund the expedition, and this archeological dig is sponsored by Monona State Bank. Before they begin their dig, archaeologists design a grid on the ground - each square in the grid must be carefully searched for artifacts. No shovels or heavy equipment required, just put on your creative hats, let your imagination flow, and see what treasures we unearth. You're going to dig making art from the artifacts you find! ]]>Join us for the presentation of a plaque commemorating the dedication of the Peace Pole by Monona Girl Scout Troop 63. They raised funds for this in 2008 by selling handmade origami cranes. Everyone is invited to celebrate with songs and a few words, cake, peaceful wishes and a drumming circle (instruments provided) hosted by community drummer Elmore Lawson in conjunction with members of the original Girl Scout Troop 63 and some of our current community of Girl Scout troops.
